To spank them or not to spank?
So, it's 18h10 on a Wednesday evening when I receive a call that my daughter is nowhere to be found - "she has been gone since 16h00 and no one knows where she is, we've looked everywhere ........". Needless to say, my heart stopped as I was sitting in my car about to leave the office parking - then it all hit me....
Just two weeks ago it was reported that there's a white taxi that's been snatching kids in the same area and they were targeting girls as they leave school heading home or whilst playing. Apparently that week alone, a total of 11 kids were taken and were nowhere to be found. In light of these frightening developments, I told my family that my daughter's every move was to be monitored closely and she was never to leave home unsupervised. I even went to the extent of arranged for transport to take her from home to school and back (even though the distance to her school is less than 800m from home)!
So where did it all go wrong? Why her? Why me? She's been gone for two hours already - whereto from the parking lot? Is she still alive?.... All these questions were certainly not getting answers from myself and the more they flooded my head, my heart would pump violently and my body would shake - so how was I going to get home in that state?....
Few minutes later, I pulled up on my driveway and ran inside not knowing what to expect. As the door opens, her mother says she is back - and without hesitation I took my belt and called for her. The moment she appeared I grabbed her and gave her a beating and, at the same time, I was feeling of huge sense of relief that she was home and unharmed!
Dont get me wrong, I am not proud of this act but I feel it had to be done and it was a way of letting her know that what she did was not to be condoned - it was not to hurt her but to show her that no wrong deed goes unpunished!
A few days later all was forgiven and this whole incident strengthened our relationship, she adores me and I love her even more - my darling princess!!!!!
